Sophia Benedict
Assistant Director of Services

Sophia joined Respond in July 2023 as Assistant Director of Services. She has previously developed and led specialist support & advocacy services for women affected by the criminal justice system across the South of England. Prior to this, she ran trauma-informed women’s centres and outreach services providing holistic support for women affected by the criminal justice system and those experiencing multiple disadvantage. As a Griffins Society Research Fellow, she carried out independent research into the barriers faced by foreign national women in the criminal justice system, published in June 2020. Sophia has previously worked with refugees and asylum seekers within a community based charity, where she managed a project supporting adult women and unaccompanied asylum seeking young people to settle and build community. Sophia is passionate about trauma-informed working and delivering impactful services with the people we support. She holds an MA in Gender and Law from SOAS, University of London, and is working towards a diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy.
