Tackling Harmful Practices in Relationships

MLMR Support people with learning disability, Autism or both who may be at risk of a harmful relationship or require support to understand what a positive relationship is.

My life, My Marriage was set up in January 2015 to raise awareness of the issue of forced marriage of people with learning disability. We provide training to professional and engage within the community to create dialogue and change. Through casework with families, individuals...we were able to create what outcome?


My Life, My Relationships provides:

  • 1-2-1 Case work
  • Advocacy and advise
  • Train professionals
  • Engage communities and families
  • Create resources
  • Working in innovatively
  • Psycho-educational programmed
  • Presenting at Conferences and events

Which leads to....what outcomes?

The outcomes are:

  1. People with learning disabilities feel more in control of their lives
  2. People with learning disabilities experience healthier, safer relationships
  3. People with learning disabilities have greater knowledge about their human rights
  4. Communities and Family have better understanding of how to support young adults to have healthier relationships
