CouRAGEus: A Service for Young Women and Girls
A pan-London programme delivered in partnership with 12 organisations across the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector.
The CouRAGEus project provides a safe and confidential space for young women, LGBTQ+ young people and disabled young people from Black and Global Majority communities.
The programme is young person-centred and rooted in an intersectional approach, informed by Black feminist principles, anti-racist practice and trauma-informed support. It creates space for young people to explore issues that impact their lives, including mental health, wellbeing, relationships, consent, and experiences of violence, while building resilience and working towards systemic change.
Who can get support?
CouRAGEus supports young people who:
- Are aged 11–24 years
- Live, work or study in London
- Have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse or exploitation
- Are experiencing trauma or emotional distress
How Respond can support
Respond is a specialist organisation within the CouRAGEus partnership, providing tailored support to girls and young women aged 11–24 who have a learning disability, autism, or both, and who are at risk of or have experienced gender-based violence.
Our Young Women’s Specialist Advocate offers one-to-one support based on individual needs. This may include:
- Emotional support and a safe space to talk
- Advocacy to ensure your voice is heard
- Support with reporting to the police
- Support attending court or other appointments
- Liaising with professionals such as social workers, education providers and other services
Our approach is trauma-informed, accessible and person-centred, ensuring that support is adapted to meet each young person’s communication and support needs.
