Family Support Service

Respond's Family Support Service supports family members of people with learning disabilities, autism or both who have experienced loss, harm or institutional abuse.

Please note that Family Support Service is not currently available free at the point of access. If you are seeking support from the service, please read this information about potential funding.

Families of people with learning disabilities, autism or both can face many challenges including fighting to get the right support, understanding their child or family member, being let down and neglected by services. Family members may have also experienced institutional abuse.

Services include face-to-face or telephone counselling and groups in which families can meet and be supported by other families and better cope with their experiences. Families feel better understood, less isolated and more connected.
