Respond has been involved with a working group of parent-carer-professionals who have been working together to produce guidance on trauma in parent carers to raise awareness.
We suspected that trauma was more prevalent than is often recognised by professionals, and often parents themselves.
This meant that parents were not getting appropriate support and may be constantly retraumatised and triggered by further events (such as contact with services that are not always truly trauma-informed).
