Connection, creativity and a focus on wellbeing

Last week Respond’s Advocacy Team hosted a creative wellbeing and connection session for our service users and carers. From art and relaxation spaces to dance therapy and advocacy support, the day was all about creating a space where people could feel welcome, safe and supported.

Session highlights and participant feedback

We were encouraged to hear how people found the session helped them feel less isolated and more connected.

We ran a successful art session – participants said they loved it and would happily join an in-person art group in the future. The relaxation room was another favourite, and many people said they would like to use the therapy rooms for future sessions where possible.

Some of the most powerful moments came from the connections made. One person shared that they felt nervous when they arrived, but left feeling more connected to both them and others. Another simply said the day gave them “good vibes”. Two service users formed a friendship during the event and are now staying connected outside of the service.

Caregivers also had the opportunity to speak privately with our Advocacy Service Manager and shared that they felt supported and heard.

The day also gave people the chance to learn about our Expert by Experience programme, with some choosing to sign up.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so welcoming. We aim to run more wellbeing sessions in future so watch out for details of these.
